Clive Allen on Fernando Llorente
“I believe Fernando Llorente is a fantastic acquisition for the Club, an experienced player who has been there and done it and I think he’s the perfect fit, I really do. It will be competition for Harry, who in turn has the character to want to keep on learning, and will continue to do so throughout his career.
“You only have to look at Llorente and what he’s done, at every level he’s been a winner. I’m sure he’ll play a big part and at this stage of his career, with the experience he’s had, he will be invaluable.”
Serge Aurier on joining Spurs
“Tottenham is an ambitious club that enjoys a good game and often ends up among the best of the English championship. I always dreamed of playing in England and I knew how to seize the chance offered to me.
“I am 24 years old and have several years of football still on the pitch. I now have to fight, progress and live great moments with my new club.
“The salary counts little. Today, I want to be in a club where I have to have fun, to have fun. If I had privileged the financial aspect, I confess that I would have stayed in Paris where the contract that was proposed to me was very interesting. More interesting than the first.
“I signed a five-year contract in Tottenham to experience other sensations and remain one of the best right-backs in the world. With the blessing of God, I will succeed.
Wim Jonk on new Spurs signing Davinson Sanchez
“From what I’ve seen of Sanchez, he’s a really good defender, but I think he must think quicker, especially in England because the game is much faster.
He added: “So he must think two steps forward, two steps ahead. Now he has a good recovery but if you have to recover all the time you will end up being too late. That’s a big challenge for him.”
Jonk on Christian Eriksen
“I think Eriksen is a fabulous player because his technical skills are at such a high level,” he said at the Soccerex global football convention.
“So I’m very curious to see if he’s goes to another level. Of course Tottenham is at a very good level but there are bigger levels.
“If also though if he is somewhere he feels is good, he will stay. That’s what he did in Holland. He stayed quite long in Ajax. He’s not moving all the time from club to club, because his base is good. What you see is what you get.”
