The Diego Costa saga has taken yet another twist.
With the Turkish transfer window closing tomorrow evening, Costa was tipped to seal a temporary loan move to Fenerbahce.
The Turkish media had claimed that the player’s representative had spent three days in the country discussing a move, while there were also suggestions that the 28-year-old would fly into Turkey this evening to clinch a move.
However, it now looks like the former Atletico Madrid man will be staying with Chelsea for the time being.
According to Goal, talks had been taking place over a loan deal, yet a move doesn’t look likely to happen now.
Aykut Kocaman, the club’s manager, said: “We were really close to sign Diego Costa but now we seem far away.
“The talks between the two clubs were going really well. But here we are.”
Given the player’s relationship with Antonio Conte, it now looks like the player will have to wait until next year to seal a move away from the club he joined in 2014.
Costa has said that he only wants to join Atletico Madrid and a move to his former club could well happen with the Spanish club’s transfer ban ending in January.
