The Gabon international has been a huge hit in the Bundesliga and his form has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
AC Milan are believed to be in talks with 28-year-old, while reports suggest Antonio Conte’s side have been offered the chance to sign the striker for £70million.
Aubameyang netted 42 goals for club and country last season and he would no doubt be a huge hit in the Premier League.
Despite talk of a move from Dortmund, the striker has made no secret of his desire to move to La Liga champions Real Madrid.
Here is what the frontman has said on his future over the past few years.
What Aubameyang told his translator during an interview at the end of last season…
“Say what you want. We will see. I have to talk with the club next week and then we will see.”
On a move in the summer…
“If I want to go to the next level, I need to leave in summer. But we must see the proposals and if I’m going to play.
“Real Madrid is still a dream, but there has been too much noise.”
On a transfer to the Champions League holders…
“Only God knows what happens in the future. If it comes to be, I know my grandfather would be very proud of me. He was from a small city only 100km from Madrid.
“I think there was an interest. But it was not further.
“I was asked in interview: “What is the club of your dreams? “I replied: ”That Real is my heart club and I made a promise to my grandfather to play there one day, I hope it will happen.”
“Here, it’s just a goal, I still have time.
“But I did not do that to pique the interest of the club and try to attract them. I do not need to do that now.
“If they want me, they will come, if they don’t, too bad. Now I know that there has been contact.”
On a move to Spain…
“Why would I not like to try new things? As I’ve said several times before, I’d like to play in Spain and have a good time for once in my life.
“PSG? That is not my goal. I can’t say anything more. I don’t see why I have to return to France when I left three years ago.”
On a move in the previous transfer window…
“If Madrid want to call me one day, they will call me. And if not? No problem. Real Madrid are not the only thing in the world.
“No one can predict the future. The only thing for sure is that I’m currently with Dortmund and I love it there.
“But I cannot say that I’ll stay for another two, five or 10 years. It is possible that in June a club comes to an agreement with Dortmund.
“At the moment I really don’t think about it. I focus only on the work with my team-mates with Dortmund and Gabon.”
“I want to be honest. When you are ambitious and also want to see something else… it’s difficult to talk about.
“Some players have ambitions, and therefore they leave and want to experience something new, you know.
“But I’ll never go to Bavaria [Bayern Munich], that’s for sure. That would be too hard for the Dortmund fans.”
On staying with Dortmund…
“I’m really happy to be here now. It’s already been three years since I came here and of course I’m enjoying every moment because we have great fans.
“It’s a great atmosphere when you play inside this stadium. And last year we did very well, we had a very good season.
“I really am happy to be here and I hope to stay more time for sure.”
On talk of a move to Man City last summer…
“Yes, it’s true. There have been discussions.
“My father spoke with the club, but nothing in the final concrete.”
On offers from other clubs over the past few years…
“At the end of my first season in the Bundesliga, there has been contact.
“The next summer too. In fact, almost every year there have been contacts.”
What his mother said about a transfer…
“A move to Madrid would be lovely but at the moment he is doing well at Dortmund and we will have to see what happens.
“He promised his grandfather that he would play for Real Madrid and since he was a little boy he spoke about Madrid and never about Barcelona.
“My family have always been Real Madrid and I would like to see him in white.”
