There are few phrases that stick in your brain quite so clearly that you remember them for years.
It’s only been a few weeks but we are pretty sure that we will never forget the time Sporting Lisbon president Bruno de Carvalho called West Ham co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan the “dildo brothers”.
Even if you had wanted to forget it for some reason, it seems that the Hammers fans are not going to let it slip away from the public consciousness.
West Ham supporters have an unusual relationship with their owners, with many unhappy with the public way in which the club appears to do business.
Fan protests have taken many forms over the years, but following De Carvalho’s comments, it appears that sex toys are the fashion right now.
The Hammers faithful busted them out during the club’s first home game of the season against Huddersfield Town on Monday night – and another was snapped at the Hawthorns yesterday proudly displaying his new toy.
Now we’re not saying this is connected, but West Ham are currently unbeaten and have yet to concede a goal in the two games at which there has been a dildo in the crowd compared to three straight defeats before then.
Perhaps we might be seeing a change to the famous Irons’ logo.
Where will West Ham finish this season? Let us know in the comments below.
