Just when Arsenal fans thought the day couldn’t get any worse – Thomas Lemar has gone and piled on the misery.
Gunners fans thought they were about to welcome the Monaco star to north London when reports emerged that they had submitted a stunning £90 million offer for the 21-year-old earlier today.
But the move then collapsed, with the Gunners deciding there was not enough time for them to push through a deal for the winger.
There were also reports that Lemar had rejected the switch to north London as he would prefer a move to Liverpool.
It was a huge blow to Arsenal fans and they were given an example of exactly what they missed this evening by Lemar, when he scored twice for France against Holland at the Parc des Princes.
To make matters worse for Arsene Wenger, he was there in the ground to see it as he was doing commentary on the game for French TV.
As you can imagine, the goals has caused quite a stir – here’s a selection of what’s been said on social media.
