Mesut Ozil clearly hasn’t take much time to get back doing what he does best.
Arsenal’s assist king, their creator in chief, loves nothing more than embarrassing defenders by taking them out of them game with one incredible pass.
But over in Australia he is now doing it to his own teammates.
The German star has been videoed in training producing an incredible disguised pass to pick out a run of Theo Walcott, taking out several of his teammates in the process.
It’s yet another example of just how important it is for Arsenal to get the former Real Madrid man tied down to a new contract as soon as possible.
Ozil – like Alexis Sanchez – is out of contract at the end of the 2017/18 season and has yet to agree to a new deal despite prolonged discussions.
Arsene Wenger spoke about the situation on Tuesday during a press conference held to welcome Arsenal to Sydney, where they will spend the next six days as part of their pre-season tour.
Wenger said: “The players have contracts we expect them to respect their contracts, that’s what we want.
“The easiest way to manage a player in the final year of his contract is that he knows it’s in his interest to do as well as he can.”
Continuing about Sanchez, the Arsenal boss went on to insist the Chile international has not asked to leave the club this summer to join Manchester City.
He said: “Nobody knows today if Sanchez will be in the final year of his contract next season because he can extend his contract with us before the start of the season, or during the season.”
Arsenal play two games over in Australia, the first pf which is on Thursday night when they play Sydney FC at the ANZ stadium.
They then return to the ANS stadium on Saturday night to take on Western Sydney Wanderers.
Wenger has confirmed that new signing Alexandre Lacazette will feature in both games, as will fellow new boy Sead Kolasinac.
