Ajax are ready to offer Davinson Sanchez a new contract in order to ward off interest from Tottenham amid reports that the Premier League side were closing in on a deal for the defender.
The Colombian youngster is one of Spurs’ top transfer targets this summer and with the pressure is mounting for the club to get a deal done after Danny Rose came out to publicly criticise Tottenham’s transfer policy.
But they look set to miss out on Sanchez despite a bid of around €40m, with reports in the Netherlands claiming that the Dutch champions are ready to triple his wages in order to keep him.
That increase would bring Sanchez up to around £60,000 a week, just £5,000 a week shy of what Danny Rose is believed to be on at Spurs.
With the new Premier League season already kicking off – and Spurs beginning their campaign against Newcastle tomorrow afternoon – Mauricio Pochettino’s side are the only team not to have signed a new player.
The Spurs boss has promised there will be signings, but it looks like he will miss out on Sanchez for now.
