Alexis Sanchez’s future remains the subject of considerable debate as transfer deadline day nears, with Arsenal’s emphasis in the closing days of the window likely to focus on outgoings.
Arsenal have remained adamant throughout that the Chilean will not leave the club this summer despite entering the final year of his contract, but there is a lingering suspicion that City will make an offer before the deadline.
The Gunners would not entertain any offers for their star players, but if a bid of around £70m arrived, Arsenal would obviously have a decision to make on his future.
Sanchez could leave on a free next summer if he does not sign a new deal during the 2017/18 season and supporters are encouraging the club to move for Sergio Aguero in a possible swap deal after the City striker was left out in his side’s 2-1 win at Bournemouth.
Gabriel Jesus was preferred in attack for Pep Guardiola’s side, with Aguero named on the substitutes’ bench and Arsenal fans took to social media to suggest the transfer to manager Arsene Wenger.
Here’s the best of the reaction from Twitter.
