Joao Cancelo looks set to sign for Inter Milan after bidding an emotional farewell to Valencia supporters last night.
The Portuguese defender could have played his last game for the Spanish club – a 1-0 win over Las Palmas on Friday night – as he will complete a year-long loan to the Italian giants in the coming days.
Inter will be given the option to buy Cancelo at the end of his loan spell, with Geoffrey Kondogbia heading to Valencia as part of the deal.
But it is not all bad news for the two London clubs, as they are both said to be closing in on moves for some other defenders before they face each other at Wembley on Sunday.
Spurs have already wrapped up their first summer signing, agreeing a club record fee for Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez, while they are also close to completing a £9m move for Argentine wonderkid Juan Foyth.
As for Chelsea, Antonio Conte has given the go-ahead for the Blues to sign Antonio Candreva from Inter for £25m, which is the reason the Italian became interested in Cancelo in the first place.
