Sporting Lisbon coach Jorge Jesus has hinted that the club are yet to receive a bid for midfielder William Carvalho.
However, Sporting boss Jesus indicated that the Super Liga side are yet to receive a concrete bid for the player, who is keen to leave the club this summer.
Asked about Carvalho’s future, the Sporting Lisbon coach told Portuguese sports daily A Bola: “When someone wants something, they come forward.
“So far no one has come forward, so I am counting on all the Sporting players.”
Carvalho has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several seasons, with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea all rumoured to have held an interest, but it appears his future could lie in East London.
But, West Ham will reportedly have to up their bid, with Sporting Lisbon believed to be unwilling to accept their first offer.
The Hammers kick off their Premier League campaign on Sunday, with a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
Javier Hernandez is in line to make his full debut against his former club, but Slaven Bilic indicated that the Mexican striker may have to settle for a place on the bench.
“He is not 100 per cent, for me. But he does look sharp and his movement is top class, exceptional.”
Would William Carvalho be a good signing for West Ham?
