Difficult afternoon, Slaven?
“Yeah, very difficult afternoon. They were better in every aspect of the game. They had simply more power and determination. The game until the first goal was even. There were set pieces for both but they were better to the second ball and in transition.
“We knew that would be the way they would play. After the goal we started well when we did some changes. We looked like a team that could equalise but we made a big mistake before the first goal and then the second goal.
“They forced us with their pressing. We didn’t give the ball away out of the blue. They were on top of our player who had the ball. They were more powerful than us in that part of the game.
“They put themselves in a position to show their quality and they showed it. Three guys upfront showed their pace and quality when they were one-on-one.”
How worried are you after three successive defeats?
“I’m worried, but not panicking. It’s still very early.
“After the game at Southampton, we had lost the game and we still had zero points, but I was still very positive with the way we played and reacted after we had 10 men.
“This is different and it is worrying. Every club has their ups and downs and only use can take ourselves out of this situation. “
Do you wish you had a home game now out of your first three?
“Of course now I wish. We can’t put it all down to the fact that because of the Athletics we have had three away games.”
How concerning are the individual mistakes?
“It is worrying and concerning. It doesn’t have to be every time we make a mistake it’s a goal. Still you can make it up and defend better.
“Transition was not good also. Those kinds of mistakes for the first one, it’s not Declan Rice as he’s been terrific and has a great future for the club.
“It is worrying when they score the situation they shouldn’t be in in the first place.”
“I didn’t see it and nobody saw it. What’s the point in talking about that now?’
Will you be doing much transfer business over the next few days?
“We’ve done well in the transfer window and we’re looking for one more player. Sometime, many times, one player can change a lot. We can’t say that this is the reason why we didn’t play good.
“We’ve got some important players that are back in training and they are still not fit to play. We expected much more better from us.”
Are you confident that you are the man to get the team out of this?
“It’s my job to be confident to believe in good and bad times. Even when the times are bad you see the importance of the job more than in the good times.”
