The defender was confirmed as a Tottenham player on deadline day after having his UK work visa confirmed shortly before.
And the Ivory Coast international has revealed that, whilst there were offers on the table from numerous clubs, it was Spurs that he wanted to join – thanks to Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino.
He said that the chairman flew out to Paris to see him, whilst the manager called him to tell the defender exactly what his role would be at the club.
“I had contacts with lots of clubs, but the most concrete choice was Tottenham,” Aurier told a Bros. Stories video.
“Why? Because the president travelled to Paris to see me to discuss a potential transfer, and that made me happy, because it sends a strong message.
“Then there was the manager who called me to tell me exactly what he wanted from me if I moved there. These were the two things that made choose Tottenham. They also fought here to get me my work permit.
“There was no reason for me to go elsewhere, because I like people to show me they want me.”
