Swansea City might just be about to pull off one of the coups of the transfer window with Paul Clement looking to take Bayern Munich star Renato Sanches on loan.
The 20-year-old has been linked with some of the top clubs in Europe at the moment, including Chelsea and AC Milan, but Clement’s connection with the German side seems to have had been the final sway.
Clement was Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant manager at the Bundesliga champions, and according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Sanches is about to join the Swans for a season.
Chelsea had been after Sanches during the summer when the Blues played Munich in Singapore. At the time, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte asked Ancelotti if the Portuguese Euro 2016 was available.
However, Chelsea did not move for the midfielder, and instead are trying to get a deal for Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater. That is a decision that some Chelsea fans have been left stunned by, however.
