Mamadou Sakho was delighted for Wilfried Zaha as he watched the winger collect his Player Of The Season award from Sam Allardyce at the end of Sunday’s victory over Hull City.
“From a personal point of view I was really surprised to be on the shortlist but Wilf deserved to win it and congratulations to him for that. He has been at the club since he was a youngster so it’s good for him”
The centre half came into the club in the final minutes of the January transfer window and had made eight appearances before injury against Tottenham Hotspur robbed of him of a place in the final matches.
The 27 year-old has really enjoyed his time at Selhurst Park and was delighted to be celebrating the club regaining their top flight status whilst he took part in the end of season lap of appreciation to the fans for their support.
“I have really enjoyed my time here because I have had the opportunity to play with some great players in a really good squad, it is a club with really good owners, manager and stadium. The objective to stay up is now done and I am really happy about that as a I came here for one mission and today we can all enjoy having done that.
“We have come a long way and I am really happy with the way the players have believed in themselves.”
