After it was mooted all summer long, Tottenham finally got their man as the Ivorian comes to north London in a deal worth £23m – and the right back’s squad number has been revealed.
Aurier will sport the number 24 shirt following his arrival from Paris, becoming the first Lilywhite to take up that particular number since American goalkeeper Brad Friedel left the club in 2015.
“This is a huge and exciting opportunity at a massive football club and I am determined to prove myself as a professional both on and off the pitch,” Aurier said in a statement following the announcement of his signing.
“This is a fresh start for me and I will do everything to make the Spurs fanbase, which is huge and diverse, proud of me. The fans are the most important people at any club and I am looking forward to showing them and everyone at Spurs the real Serge Aurier.”
Spurs also completed a deal for World Cup winning striker Fernando Llorente in the dying minutes of the transfer window as the Spaniard snubbed a move to Chelsea in favour of coming to Tottenham.
