Alexis Sanchez is clearly happy to be back to full fitness ahead of Sunday’s crunch Premier League clash at Liverpool.
The Arsenal star has had to sit out the first two games of the Premier League season with an abdominal injury he sustained soon after returning from his extended summer break.
But Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier today that the Chile international will be back in the squad for this weekend’s trip to Anfield.
“Alexis is available,” said Wenger.
“He works very hard (in training), is focused and gives absolutely everything. He loves to play so much that it is always difficult to stop him – but he looks absolutely ready.
“He has not played for a long time so I will have to decide what I do with him but he looks ready to play.”
The news comes as a major boost to Arsenal as they look to respond to last weekend’s disappointing defeat at Stoke City.
Wenger saw his side dominate at the Bet365 Stadium, only to be beaten 1-0 following a second half goal by Potters new boy Jese.
That defeat sees Sunday’s game at Anfield take added importance, so the return of Sanchez will be welcome news to Arsenal fans who have been desperate to see last season’s top scorer return to action.
Speaking about Sunday’s game, Wenger said: “We’ve had good memories and sometimes bad memories as well.
“It’s true that we’ve done well at Anfield in the past and we want to do well again.”
