Manchester City are willing to play a ‘waiting game’ to sign Alexis Sanchez this summer.
Speculation continues to rage about the Chile international, who has just one year left on his deal at the Emirates.
Sanchez is on an extended summer break due to his involvement in the Confederations Cup and has only just returned to Chile where he will spend the next fortnight.
He is due back at Arsenal on July 30 – less than two weeks before the start of the Premier League season.
The 28-year-old is believed to want to leave the Emirates this summer and earlier this week he gave an interview to the Chilean media stating his desire to play in the Champions League.
Reports claim that Manchester City is the club he wants to join, even though Paris Saint-German are also said have made contact, as he wants to link up again with Pep Guardiola – who signed him for Barcelona from Udinese.
Arsenal are adamant Sanchez will not be sold, however, with Arsene Wenger reiterating that stance during a press conference in China on Tuesday.
“The decision has been made and we will stick to that,” he said. “The decision is not to sell.”
But reports in the north west suggest Wenger’s statement will not worry those behind the scenes at the City – with Guardiola happy to remain patient in his pursuit of the Gunners’ star man.
The Manchester Evening News claim the Blues are willing to play the ‘waiting game’ for Sanchez – who they believe will continue to push for a move to Etihad.
