Gianfranco Zola calls on the club to sign Andrea Belotti ahead of Alvaro Morata
“To be honest, I was thinking Chelsea should go for Andrea Belotti in Italy,” Zola told talkSPORT.
“I thought that considering the type of qualities Costa has, that Belotti was the perfect fit.
“Morata is a little bit different, he’s more of a finesse player. He hasn’t got the presence of a player like Costa in the box. He’s a different player, he brings other qualities.
“Costa was very influential last season, he’s a type of player who fits with the style of football at Chelsea, and that [finding a like-for-like replacement] will be the key for Chelsea.”
Dominic Solanke takes a dig at Chelsea after Liverpool move
“Every time I see Liverpool, there’s such a family nature, there are a lot of young players doing well at the club, so I think it will be a good place for me to develop my career,” Solanke said, as quoted by the Mirror.
“As a young player, you always want to see the club you’re at pushing young players through.
“I’m quite good friends with Joe Gomez – I’ve known him since we were young – and obviously Ovie [Ejaria] and Sheyi [Ojo] were with us at the Under-20 World Cup. We spoke a bit when we were away, so I’m looking forward to enjoying it with them.
“Liverpool’s got a lot of good young players, so hopefully everyone can play their part.”
Jamie Redknapp has his say on Diego Costa’s situation
“I do worry about Chelsea now though because Costa was so good. These players are not easy to find,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“You could sign Alvaro Morata who is extremely talented but he doesn’t get regular games at Real.
“It is really difficult to find the players you want, who can make the difference Diego Costa did, especially with the style Chelsea play.
“It worked so well last season so to not see him in a Chelsea shirt will be hard for the players and certainly the fans because he’s been extremely successful for them.”
Wilian says he is happy to begin pre-season
“Always when you go away on holiday for a month, there are three, four or five days after you get back that are difficult,” Willian admitted on the club website.
“But then you get a little stronger, you do something different and you are ready to push harder.
“The physios and masseurs are very important for us in this period!
“Of course, it’s good to be back together with your friends and your team-mates, and the overseas training trips are also good for building up the team spirit.”
Thibaut Courtois reveals he is looking forward to facing Arsenal again this summer
“If it is against an English team, even if it is in pre-season, it is a game you want to win,” Courtois told the club website.
“Pre-season is mostly to get in shape, to work well and to do what the manager asks, and sometimes you play those games being tired because you worked hard maybe the day before, so it is not really to measure how strong we are already.
“They are nice games and Arsenal is a really good opponent to play against.”
