Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho put on the goalkeeper gloves for a fantastic cause earlier today as he took part in the Game4Grenfell charity match and his performance led to some jokes.
Mainly at the expense of other Premier League goalkeepers, with United fans claiming their manager was better than the majority of their rival stoppers during his 27 minutes on the pitch, including West Ham keeper Joe Hart.
Mourinho didn’t do too badly during the 2-2 draw between Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand’s teams at Loftus Road in a match to raise money for victims of the devastating tower block fire back in June.
Mourinho did well and despite scoring his penalty in the shootout that followed, he couldn’t keep out any of the spot kicks from Ferdinand’s team, who won the match.
Hart didn’t escape copping some flak from United fans during the game, with Hart having conceded ten goals in three games so far in the Premier League this season.
It wasn’t just Hart as Liverpool keepers Simon Mignolet and Lorius Karius also got some stick, as did current man City number one Ederson and back up Claudio Bravo.
But it was all for a good cause in anyway s Mourinho is not expected to dislodge David De Gea between the sticks at Old Trafford…
