Diego Costa will leave Chelsea this summer – but Antonio Conte claims that he made the decision about his star striker’s future months ago.
The Spain international was linked with a move to China back in January, and Conte claims that ever since then, he has known that Costa would be sold in the summer.
Costa looks set to return to Atletico Madrid this summer, as Chelsea announced the signing of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid for a club record fee earlier today.
Despite the speculation, Costa remained at the club to help them to the Premier League title, with his form dipping in the process.
Conte said: “I don’t to like to talk about player that don’t stay here. The only thing I can tell you is that in January the Costa situation was very clear for the club, him and his agent. For me, the situation is closed.”
