BBC pundit Pat Nevin has hailed Christian Eriksen
“In my programme piece for Chelsea last season, I said how Chelsea had to be aware of Christian Eriksen breaking into certain areas and showed it in a graphic – and he scored from that precise area!
“When I played wide/midfield, anyone who has that vision, it’s not a case of if a pass is on, he may be able to deliver, because there are plenty of players around who may be able to, the thing is, Eriksen will.
“Newcastle was the perfect example for the first goal. They tried to close him down but once there was that little area if space, he made it. I was there and I didn’t think for one second that he wouldn’t make that pass to Dele, and lay it on a plate.
“There are few players around like that. Fabregas is another. They are like quarter-backs in the NFL, if you leave them in the pocket with space, you are in massive trouble. He’s quite spectacular at that.
“He’s one of those players who could quite easily go under the radar with the likes of Dele and Harry Kane, but I’ve always been a massive fan and I’m sure Dele and Harry would say the same thing.
“His numbers are phenomenal, particularly goals made and chances created and that’s always the one for me, because I created plenty of chances when I played and they weren’t all scored – and it wasn’t my fault they weren’t all scored!”
Gary Lineker believes Harry Kane is one of the world’s best players
“Make no mistake, Harry Kane is the real deal.
“The value on a striker like Harry Kane in this transfer market is hard to calculate, but clearly he has been in the £100m-plus category for some time now.
“If you look at Manchester United signing a deal worth in excess of £80m to take Romelu Lukaku from Everton, then you would say that Kane is ahead of Lukaku for sure.
“His all round game is much better and while both will probably score a similar amount of goals this season, Kane is the player you would pick out of the two.”
Jamie Redknapp has said Spurs are facing Chelsea at the right time
“Chelsea are wounded, you couldn’t ask for a better time to play them. You just feel a few of them are getting their parachutes out and making excuses.
“You’re hearing things about Conte, ‘He’s not a great man-manager.’ He was phenomenal last season.
“All of a sudden there’s a lot coming out of Chelsea that wasn’t there last year so Tottenham need to make it count and put the Wembley talk to bed.
“This game, without overstating it, is almost their season. If they can get a result everyone then stops talking about their record at Wembley.”
Mauricio Pochettino gave an update on Toby Alderweireld’s contract
“Toby is like other players. They have contracts.
“They signed their contracts and they were so happy when they signed their contracts.
“He still has a three-year contract. I explain the situation but it’s another rumour in the media.”
