The Blues have been chasing Chamberlain since it became apparent earlier in the summer that he might be willing to make a move as they Blues look to increase the amount of home-grown players in their squad.
With the 24-year-old in the final year of his contract and supposedly rejecting a £180,000-a-week deal from the Gunners, Arsenal have been left with no choice other than to sell or lose him for nothing next summer.
Despite his struggles, Oxlade-Chamberlain remains one of the brightest young talents in English football – although he is running out of time to reach that potential as it appears he still does not know his best position.
Chelsea’s track record of fostering young talent is not exactly the envy of the rest of the Premier League, with their tendency to loan out players a running joke among opposing fans.
Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem are the club to profit most from Chelsea’s loan policy, with the Blues sending a number of players to the Eredivisie club over the years.
And with Chamberlain set to swap north London for west, fans couldn’t resist linking him with a spell in the Netherlands with Vitesse.
Is Oxlade-Chamberlain worth £35m? Let us know in the comments below.
