Everton chief Farhad Moshiri has explained why Ross Barkley pulled out of a Chelsea deal at the last minute.
The 23-year-old was on the verge of joining the Blues with just 30 minutes left of the transfer deadline day, however stunned everyone by suddenly pulling out of the move.
A move is now off the cards for this transfer window, with Spurs also having been reportedly interested in his signature, but majority shareholder Moshiri has explained why the deal fell through.
Moshiri told Sky Sports: “The clubs agreed a deal for £35m and personal terms were agreed. After the medical we heard from Paul Martin, Ross Barkley’s agent that he changed his mind.
“He wanted to reconsider his position during the January window, that is the latest we have been advised.
“He is currently injured, I think technically he will be with us because he is with us for another year. So I think it is a big surprise, but that is football.”
