Striker Diego Costa says he would not blame Eden Hazard for having his head turned by Real Madrid or Barcelona but hopes he stays.
Hazard has been back to his best this season after last term’s below-par showing and his displays and 11 goals have helped the Blues to the top of the Premier League.
Barring a late-season slump, the Belgium international will pick up his second Premier League winner’s medal in May and may well have an FA Cup medal to add to it after Chelsea took care of Manchester United 1-0 in the quarter-finals on Monday night.
Hazard was again on fire in a feisty affair and, after the match, team-mate Costa admitted the 26-year-old’s superb form means he will be coveted by most top teams in Europe, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has also been linked to Real.
“If Real Madrid signing Hazard and Thibaut, [then] poor Chelsea, Hazard is amazing, he’s a top player,” he told Radio Onda Cero.
“Barcelona or Real Madrid are going to watch him at any time. Hazard is happy here but when a team like these knocks at the door you have to think about it.
“He’s a world-class player. It is normal that they love him but hopefully he will not leave.”
