Chelsea could still have hopes of signing Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam over the course of the next transfer window according to reports in Italy.
The Algerian international has been in impressive form especially over the last two seasons for the Naples-based club – making 36 appearances in all competitions last campaign.
The Blues have long been linked with a move for the 26-year-old but rumours were most recently apparent last summer – with Antonio Conte reportedly very keen on bringing the full back to Stamford Bridge.
However, much of Chelsea’s interests in that position seemed to be focused on Juventus star Alex Sandro instead – and no move for the Brazilian ever materilaised.
But, according to Italian publication Il Mattino, the Blues could still have hope of reviving their interest in Ghoulam as the player is currently in the middle of a contract dispute with Napoli.
The report claims that the player’s representatives want a €18 million release clause in any possible deal – but the Serie A side won’t entertain any release clause.
This could interest Antonio Conte, who is still thought to be interested in strengthening the left-hand side of his defence.
