Spurs star Dele Alli will miss the club’s first three fixtures of this season’s Champions League group stage after his red card in the Europa League against Gent last season – and that will include some seriously tough fixtures.
The midfielder was dismissed last season for a reckless challenge on Brecht Dejaegere in a 2-2 draw at Wembley stadium which saw Tottenham eliminated from the competition.
UEFA announced in March that Alli would serve a three-match ban as a result of that dismissal – and it has now been revealed exactly which fixtures the midfielder will miss.
Spurs have been drawn in what looks like a “group of death” for this season’s competition – with Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and APOEL joining Mauricio Pochettino’s side in Group H.
And Alli will miss both the home tie against Dortmund and the visit to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid – whilst also being unavailable for Tottenham’s away tie against APOEL in between.
