The 20-year-old had returned from his loan spell at Real Betis in January and was expected to make some sort of impact with the first team this season.
However, the Belgian injured his groin just before the Blues flew out on their pre-season tour of China and Singapore, which threatened his place on the plane.
Musonda did fly out with the rest of the team, but did not feature in the 3-0 win over Arsenal in Beijing on Saturday.
But during the Blues’ training session under the roof of the Singapore National Stadium, Musonda was running freely as he looked to get back to top fitness.
Not training with the rest of the squad, the 20-year-old ran around the edge of the pitch, pushing himself to the limit, alleviating fears that it could be a longer injury.
Musonda, who has been given Eden Hazard’s old number of 17, will not feature in the match against Bayern Munich tomorrow night, and has an outside shot of making the Inter game on Saturday.
With Pedro having to fly home with ‘multiple facial injuries’ and Hazard still on the injury table himself, the Blues are a little short in the wide forward position.
Jeremie Boga impressed against the Gunners in the Bird’s Nest at the weekend, and will no doubt get the chance to start against Bayern.
However, Celtic target Musonda is missing a great chance to stake his claim in the squad for next season by being injured, and will no doubt be keen to get back to full fitness.
