So, as part of our buildup for Sunday’s London derby between the two sides, we have been through the record books to dig up a few stats.
And some might seriously surprise you…
Arsene Wenger has a good record against Antonio Conte
The two managers have faced each other four times in the past.
Wenger has won three of those matches while Conte has won just one of them.
That gives the Arsenal boss a 2.25 points per game record against the former Italy boss.
Wenger only has a better points per game ratio against four other current Premier League bosses. He’s won an average of 2.6 points per game in his five matches against Eddie Howe (four wins, one draw). He has a 100% record against Paul Clement (one match), Craig Shakespeare (two matches) and Sean Dyche (five matches).
Wenger’s worst record is against Jose Mourinho, having won an average of just 0.76 points per game against the Manchester United manager.
Arsenal haven’t won three games in a row against Chelsea for 13 years
The Gunners could make it three wins in a row against Chelsea on Sunday following their FA Cup final and Community Shield triumphs.
If they do emerge victorious then it will be the first time they’ve had three straight wins against the west London club since the time of the Invincibles.
Arsenal beat Chelsea three-one at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup on 25 March, 2003. They then beat them at home two-one in the league on October 18, 2003 before following it up with a two-one FA Cup victory on February 15, 2004.
The Gunners then made it four in a row on February 21, 2004 with a two-one league win at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea haven’t lost at home to Arsenal for almost six years
Antonio Conte’s side have won all of their last five home games against Arsenal.
You have to go back to October 29, 2011 for the last time the Gunners recorded a win at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal walked away five-three winners in what was a thrilling match. They were leading three-two until the 80th minute when Juan Mata grabbed an equaliser for the home side. Robin van Persie popped up with two late goals though to secure the victory for his side.
Which club has the higher net spend over the last five years?
Arsenal have spent an estimated £298.7m on transfer fees for new players since the opening of the 2013 summer transfer window, according to figures taken from transferleague.co.uk.
Chelsea spent an estimated £544.5m in that time – almost twice as much. However, those figures aren’t for total spend not net.
Arsenal sold £116.9m worth of talent in that time while Chelsea sold £410.5m worth of players.
That means the Gunners spent £181.8m net in transfers to Chelsea’s £134m.
Theo Walcott is the fixture’s top scorer
The Arsenal forward has scored more goals in Arsenal-Chelsea games than any other current player.
Walcott has scored six times against Chelsea for Arsenal, with his last one coming in their three-nil victory at the Emirates on September 24 last year.
Didier Drogba has the record for the most goals in the fixture during the Premier League era – 13. He’s followed by Thierry Henry with 10 and Ian Wright with eight.
