Barkley is due to leave the Toffees this summer after falling out of favour with manager Ronald Koeman, and although it was expected he would sign with Spurs, Chelsea have apparently come in with a late bid for the England international.
According to our colleagues at The Irish Mirror, the Blues will submit a £25m bid to test Everton’s resolve this weekend.
The Toffees have slapped a £50m price tag on Barkley this summer but with the transfer deadline nearing and Barkley out with a hamstring injury, they may be willing to accept a lower offer.
Chelsea are hopeful that they can use Sunday’s game against Everton as a means by which to open negotiations with the Merseyside club and beat their London rivals to Barkley’s signature.
