With Nemanja Matic’s move to Manchester United set to be confirmed soon, it had been thought that the Blues could be on the lookout for a new midfielder to replace the towering Serbian international.
And, that had led many to turn their focus towards Sanches, who is part of a very crowded Bayern Munich central midfield set up.
Some reports over the last few days had suggested that Chelsea could be interested in a loan move for the Portugese wonderkid, who is very highly rated at the Bundesliga club.
However, Carlo Ancelotti has today confirmed that Sanches will in fact be staying in Munich for the coming season.
In a press conference previewing his side’s Audi Cup tie against Liverpool, Ancelotti said: “Renato Sanches will stay with us until the end of the transfer window.”
AC Milan were also said to be interested in the Portugese star, who signed for Bayern for £27.5m from Benfica last summer but was restricted to just six Bundesliga starts.
