That is coming from German sports outlet Bild, who say the former Borussia Dortmund boss is in the driving seat to be the new manager in west London should Conte depart for whatever reason.
The Italian had recently improved his contract at the Blues but did not extend it any further and rumours this summer have seen the manager linked with leaving the club de to a lack of new faces and missing out on targets.
Bild says that Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has “personally sought out” Tuchel, who left his job at Dortmund in May after a two-year stint replacing Jurgen Klopp when he joined Liverpool.
It certainly didn’t look like there was any discord with Conte and the club at the weekend though during his celebrations as his team saw off Spurs 2-1 at Webmbley.
Conte led Chelsea to Premier League glory last season in his first campaign in charge at the helm and has strengthened his squad with the signings of Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger so far this summer.
