Chelsea have long been linked with a move for the Belgium international, but they face strong competition from Manchester United, who are also pushing to do a deal.
Everton have slapped a £100million price tag on the player in the hope it will scare off all interested parties, and so far it has done the trick, with neither Chelsea or United matching it.
However that could be about to change as reports claim that Conte is desperate to get Lukaku on board and has instructed the Chelsea board to pay whatever it takes, even if it means matching Everton’s valuation.
Conte believes that Lukaku is the perfect striker to play in his system next season, and is even willing to cash in on Diego Costa to make way for the Toffees star.
It has also been suggested Costa’s failure to find another club is also holding up the move, with any funds raised set to go towards the capture of Lukaku.
