Tomori excelled during the Young Lions’ tournament success in South Korea, proving he is ready to take another step on the career pathway to the Blues’ first team.
And, together with Chelsea club-mate Jake Clarke-Salter, the 19-year-old is likely to be loaned out to a Football League club for a portion of the new season.
Tomori, who made his professional debut for Chelsea in the final game of the 2015/16 season, spent the second half of last term on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion.
He made ten appearances as Chris Hughton’s men secured promotion to the Premier League, which probably means he will not be returning to the Sussex club.
Chelsea will want to place him at a club where he is likely to see plenty of first-team action – and that could be somewhere in the Championship.
Reading and Bristol City look like ideal candidates for the job given their success in developing Blues youngsters in the past.
