Manuel Lanzini says the club have signed one of the best Premier League right-backs in Pablo Zabaleta
“It is very good for me to have someone from Argentina join the club!” Lanzini told the club website.
“We have spoken many times, he is a very good person and a very good player.
“I think he is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, he has been here for nine years, which is amazing.
“His experience will be very important to us. He has played for a very big club in Manchester City and I think he will be very good for us.”
Richard Dunne believes Joe Hart should use a move to the Hammers as a stepping stone
“If he goes down on loan to West Ham and has a good season then hopefully one of the bigger clubs will come back in for him and he will play at the top level of European football again,” Dunne told talkSPORT.
Slaven Bilic is confident of adding quality to his West Ham squad
“It is important to remember that, towards the end of last season, we played without nine players who were injured, and still to be fair we did quite well, points wise and performance,” Bilic told the club website.
“So we have a squad. What we want is to bring in the quality that is going to improve our first 11. We have Pablo [Zabaleta] and I am really expecting to add a couple more soon.
“Everybody is talking about a striker, but it is very hard to find them. We are working on it, but we are not going to get someone that we are not sure about.
“Especially as we are not looking at bringing them in to be just in or around the squad, or expect them to come good in a couple of years.
“We want someone to come in, put the jersey on, and play. And we are going to do it. We are working very hard, especially the chairman, but we are going to get someone that we really want.”
Former Hammer Steve Lomas has called on the club to sign Theo Walcott from Arsenal
“Walcott’s goal record from wide or up front is good. He’s got pace and he’s at a good age at 28,” Lomas told the London Evening Standard.
“I don’t know him very well but I know him personally; he’s a very good lad. That’s very important, we need to bringing the right characters into the dressing room.
“The best West Ham teams have always been British-based with a sprinkling of foreign talent.
“I know that’s a bit harder to do in the current climate but I do believe the best way forward is the nucleus of British lads.”
