The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper leaves the London Stadium after making 42 appearances since signing from Birmingham City in 2015.
Randolph was mainly used as the club’s no.1 goalkeeper last season, although Joe Hart’s arrival at the Hammers earlier in the week has pushed him down the pecking order.
Slaven Bilic, who said he was sorry to see Randolph leave, admitted he couldn’t deny him the opportunity of regular first-team football in a World Cup year.
Bilic, speaking to the club’s official website, said: “Darren is a very good goalkeeper, and I didn’t want him to leave. However, I could not guarantee him regular first team football and, with the possibility of playing at the World Cup for the Republic of Ireland next summer, he wanted to take up the offer from Middlesbrough.
“We didn’t think it was right to deny him this opportunity to establish himself as a No1 playing every week in the Championship, but I am sorry to see him go and I wish him all the very best in the future.”
Even though the club brought Hart in from Manchester City on a season-long loan deal, many of the club’s supporters were left unhappy that Randolph was moving on.
Here are what Hammers fans had to say following the goalkeeper’s move to the Championship club.
