Chelsea appear on the cusp of landing key summer target Tiemoue Bakayoko after his brother’s Snapchat post seemed to confirm the Monaco midfielder’s impending move to Stamford Bridge.
Bakayoko has been a key target for Antonio Conte and the Blues this summer as the Italian looks to inject more energy into his central midfield options, with the 22-year-old having been close to a move for the past few weeks.
Some reports indicated Bakayoko had already been to the club’s Cobham training complex for a medical but the keyhole knee surgery he underwent earlier this year has complicated the progress of his transfer.
But reports in France now claim an announcement could be made on Friday with a fee agreed with the Ligue 1 winners and personal terms sorted.
And that was backed up by his brother Abdoulaye Bakayoko on Snapchat, who posted an image of a black background with ‘CFC’ and a blue dot emoji to signify Tiemoue’s imminent arrival.
There had been rumours earlier this week that Manchester United may attempt to hijack a second Chelsea transfer following their signing of Romelu Lukaku from under the Blues’ noses, but Chelsea were always dubious of the link.
Bakayoko will become the second signing of the window for the Blues after the arrival of Antonio Rudiger from Roma, with the likes of Danilo, Alex Sandro and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all featuring prominently in Conte’s thoughts for the remainder of the window.
