Arsenal are ready to make a sensational double bid for Celtic’s Moussa Dembele and Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, according to reports.
According to the Express, Arsene Wenger is weighing up a move for Dembele if Alexis Sanchez leaves this summer.
Sanchez has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract and still hasn’t signed a new deal, leaving the possibility of the Gunners losing their star player on a free transfer next summer.
The Chile forward could be forced to stay and honour the last year of his contract to prevent him joining Manchester City, but he may be allowed to move abroad if a firm offer from the likes of PSG or Bayern Munich materialises.
If Sanchez does depart, the report claims Dembele is the striker Wenger wants to sign to bolster his forward options.
The 20-year-old Frenchman, who is valued in the £30million bracket, scored 32 goals in 48 appearances for Celtic in his first season in Scotland, and could potentially play alongside club record signing Alexandre Lacazette.
The report also claims that Arsenal are pondering a £45m bid for Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk, who has been closely linked with moves to Liverpool and Chelsea this summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were heavy favourites to sign the 26-year-old but had to withdraw their offer and apologise after Southampton lodged an official complaint about the way the bid was handled.
