Having already lost at Stoke and Liverpool this season, Arsene Wenger’s side know they need to get something at Stamford Bridge to keep themselves in the mix with their top four rivals.
With that in mind, Wenger rested several of his star names during Thursday night’s 3-1 win against Cologne in the Europa League.
Granit Xhaka, Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Petr Cech and Alexandre Lacazette were all given the night off, while Laurent Koscielny missed out through suspension.
It is hoped all will return at Stamford Bridge, although Wenger admits that two of his players are struggling with injuries.
“We have to see about Ozil and Ramsey,” he said. “I think they should be alright. All the others could have played against Cologne.
“I believe in three days we can recover. Overall, that should not be a problem.”
Jack Wilshere returned to action on Thursday night, making his first Arsenal appearance in over a year.
With Francis Coquelin out with a hamstring injury, the England international could make the squad for Sunday’s trip across the capital.
“It is good for him,” said Wenger. You will see that it will give him more confidence.
“Sunday is an important game. I am confident that away from home we can gets the points that we want.
“Mentally for our team it’s important to play well and get a positive result.
“To play well we have to not forget the quality of our performances. That’s most important on Sunday.”
