The Ivorian midfielder has been among the Gunners’ top transfer targets this summer, and he has moved to the top of the list following Arsene Wenger’s admission that any deal for Thomas Lemar is “dead” as Monaco dig in their heels.
Barcelona were said to be interested in a move for Seri, but have since dropped their interest in the 26-year-old, leaving the door open for Arsenal to swoop.
The Gunners have been searching for reinforcements in midfield this summer with Santi Cazorla set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
With less than a week to go until the transfer window slams shut next Thursday, Arsenal are running out of time to move for Seri.
Paris Saint-Germain were rumoured to be interested in Seri too but the player’s agent has claimed that the French club only expressed interest in order to force the price up for Barcelona.
Reports from France have claimed that Seri has a release clause of €40m (£37m), although Arsenal are hopeful of signing him for less.
Will Arsenal sign Seri this summer? Let us know in the comments below.
