Antonio were you happy there with the performance as well as the result today?
“Yeah, for sure.
“We must be pleased for the performance. I think we dominated the game and created many chances to score.
“I saw a lot of positive things and great concentration, focus. The will to finish the game with a clean sheet and yeah I think it was very important for us.
“If I were to see a little negative aspect at the start of the second half we could be more clinical to score the third goal and close the game.
“Instead to stay 2-0 after set plays and corners, if you concede one goal then you have to finish a game that you dominated with a bit of fear.
Do you think you got the benefit of Everton having a tough with with Manchester City, Europa League and then coming here on a very hot day?
“For sure, for sure. Everton is a strong team, a really strong team.
“They played three games in seven days and it’s not easy. They played tough games against Manchester City and then the qualification in the Europa League.
“You know very well how very important it is for a club to play in Europe!
“Then to play against us after a defeat in our first game at home, it wasn’t easy for Everton today.
“But, in this case, you must be really focused and try to put the game in the right way and I think we did this.
“But for sure to play three games in seven days is not easy.
Now you have quite a comfortable victory, does it give you a nice platform to go forward with transfers now? Four days left to go, will you be busy?
“There are four days to go in the transfer market.
“I think the club is working very hard to try to improve our squad.
“Don’t forget that in September we have to play seven games and I need to rotate my players because it’s very difficult to play seven games in a month with the same players.
“The club is working hard to strengthen the squad. They know very well our situation.
“But I repeat I’m ready in every case to continue to work with this group of players.”
Some of the more wild claims are that you’re so frustrated with the lack of signings that if you don’t sign anybody by Thursday you may resign, is there a message you can give to the fans?
“My message to the fans is always the same. I am totally committed to the club. I am totally committed to improve my players to improve my team.
“I’m a coach, I’m not a manager and I think that my work is on the pitch to try to improve my players, to try to improve my team.
“Then for sure when you want to strengthen your squad you have to give your opinion and speak to your club. But then the club go in the transfer market and try to sort this situation, try to help us.
“Sometimes it could be possible, sometimes it’s not.
“But I repeat I must be focused on the pitch to continue to work with my players.”
Ronald Koeman a few minutes ago said he needs a striker before the window closes, and he says Diego Costa is a good striker and available. Would that be a good solution for Costa, for Chelsea and for Everton?
“About the transfer market I don’t like to speak about the players.”
But is there an interest from Everton in Diego?
“I don’t know.”
Did you have a conversation with Roberto Martinez over the weekend on Eden Hazard?
“Yes, I had a conversation with Roberto yesterday and I think that now it could be positive for Eden to go with the national team and to have the training sessions.
“And then, yeah, maybe to have the possibility to play a part of the game with Gibraltar.
“I told Roberto that if I can help him I’m ready to do this. In my past I was a coach for the national team and I know very well that this task is not easy.
“But I think for Eden now, I also spoke with the player, he’s happy to go to stay with the national team.
“But the most important thing is to work very hard to improve and then after the international break to have the possibility to bring him on the bench and to start to think that he’s a new player for Chelsea this season.
What were your thoughts on Cesc Fabregas’ performance?
“Cesc I think played a good game, but like Cesc I think all the players performed very well.
“He scored an important goal for us and we all know very well his characteristics. He’s a great player with good technique when we are in possession. With Cesc you can play really good football.
“Now also he is trying to improve the defensive situation, to try to be more strong. To try to be a bit like N’Golo! But also N’Golo has to work to become Cesc with the ball!”
Your other scorer Morata needed some ice on the bench, was he ok?
“Morata scored a really good goal and I’m pleased for him because it’s very important when you arrive at a new club and you are a striker for your confidence.
“He’s improving. It’s not easy for the striker and also for Bakayoko to arrive and adapt very quickly in our philosophy.
“I need the striker to stay in position, for us he’s a point of reference.
“You need a bit of time but for him, Rudiger, Bakayoko and also for Christensen they are young players and I repeat we are trying to build to improve this base.
But he needed some ice, was it an injury or was he just hot?
“No no, he’s ok.
“I changed him because I saw him a bit tired and then I tried to give the opportunity to Batshuayi.
He’s in perfect physical condition.
The team looked so fast, fierce and like favourites again compared to the first half against Burnley, how is there such a difference in two weeks?
“Honestly I think we started the game against Burnley in the right way and then don’t forget after only 14 minutes there was a red card for Cahill.
“And I think in that moment in 30 minutes we lost our composure, we lost our heads and they scored three goals.
“Then in the second half with ten men we dominated the game with possession with shots, we scored two goals.
“Against Burnley I saw a lot of positivity but I think that game helped us to understand that this season will be very very difficult and we have to have always a great consideration and a great focus to start the game in the right way.
“Otherwise, anything can happen.”
